At OpenAI trial, Musk says friendship with Google founder was broken

Billionaire Elon Musk spoke about his relationship with Google co-founder Larry Page during the trial against OpenAI. According to Musk, disagreements over artificial intelligence safety put an end to their long-standing friendship. Techcrunch.com reports on this.

According to testimony given in court, when Musk expressed concerns that artificial intelligence could destroy humanity, Page responded with indifference. Page emphasized that the survival of artificial intelligence was more important than humanity and called Musk a "specist."

Elon Musk described this approach as "insane" and stated that this specific incident was the primary motivation for founding OpenAI. Previously, the two entrepreneurs were very close friends, and Musk frequently stayed overnight at Page's home.

The friendship was completely severed in 2015 after Musk recruited Google expert Ilya Sutskever for the new project. Page viewed this as a personal betrayal and ceased all contact with Musk.

In previous interviews, Musk had expressed a desire to restore this relationship.
