Airbnb co-founder hires expert to modernize US government websites

Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia has hired renowned designer Peter Arnell as the first Chief Brand Architect for the U.S. National Design Studio, a project aimed at modernizing U.S. government digital platforms. Gebbia announced this at The Wall Street Journal's "Future of Everything" conference. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .
Over his forty-year career, Peter Arnell has worked with world-famous brands such as Samsung, Pepsi, Reebok, and Chrysler. He is now tasked with improving the design and user experience of approximately 27,000 U.S. government websites. The goal is to simplify public services and strengthen citizens' trust in government platforms.
Joe Gebbia compared this process to the approach used in creating the Airbnb platform. According to him, the main task is to make complex government processes as simple, secure, and intuitive as Airbnb. The team has already digitized retirement-related paperwork, reducing a process that took months to just a few minutes.
Another key aspect of the project is addressing user interface (UX) flaws. Gebbia described the complexities of government sites as "the worst examples of UX" and emphasized that people should feel comfortable and at ease when using public services. By eliminating unnecessary steps, the team plans to take digital governance to a new level.
