Russian Railways launches autonomous cleaning robots at train stations

Russian Railways (RJD) has started using autonomous cleaning robots at major train stations in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. This was announced on the company's official Telegram channel. According to Ixbt.com reports.

The robots will clean the interiors of the Kazan, Yaroslavl, Kursk, Pavelet, and Kiev stations in Moscow, as well as the Moskovsky station in Saint Petersburg. The devices are capable of sweeping, scrubbing, removing stubborn dirt, mapping rooms, and determining optimal routes.

Smart systems independently bypass obstacles and automatically return to the charging station when power is low. According to RJD, the robots' performance is 1,980 square meters per hour, which is equivalent to eight basketball courts or about ten tennis courts.

The introduction of this technology allows for significant savings in water, electricity, and detergents. Starting in June 2026, plans are in place to further enhance sanitation at stations using steam generators.
