Lawsuit between Elon Musk and OpenAI reveals company safety policies

Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI has brought AI safety issues under intense scrutiny. In a federal court in Oakland, former employee and board member Rosie Campbell stated that the company is focusing more on bringing products to market than its original mission of benefiting humanity. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

According to Campbell, when she joined the company in 2021, research and safety were priorities, but over time, the organization shifted to a product-oriented structure. Specifically, the launch of the GPT-4 model by Microsoft in India without the approval of the safety board indicates a failure to follow safety protocols.

The trial also discussed conflicts between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and the board of directors. Former board members like Tasha McCauley have leveled serious accusations, claiming Altman misled the board and failed to provide sufficient information regarding the launch of ChatGPT.

OpenAI representatives, meanwhile, argue that the company's safety approach is more transparent and effective than that of competitors, including xAI, founded by Musk. The company is currently seeking to recruit new AI safety experts and is working to overhaul its safety systems.
