Airbnb released its financial report for the first quarter of 2026, highlighting its use of artificial intelligence technologies. It was revealed that 60% of the code written by the company's engineers was created with the help of AI. Tasks that previously required a team of 20 engineers can now be performed by a single specialist using AI agents under supervision. The role of AI in customer support is also growing. Currently, Airbnb bots resolve 40% of inquiries without human intervention. Nevertheless, Brian Chesky admitted that chatbot design in the travel and e-commerce sectors is not yet perfect. He believes that text-based chatbots are not fully adapted for travel platforms where visual data and maps are crucial.
According to financial results, Airbnb's net profit grew by 3.9% to $160 million, while revenue increased by 18% to $2.7 billion. Additionally, the "Book now, pay later" feature accounted for nearly 20% of the total booking value, sparking high interest among users.
