Sabi unveils smart cap that converts thoughts into text

The startup Sabi has unveiled a new device called Sabi Cap. It is a neurointerface disguised as a regular cap, which developers claim can convert human thoughts into digital text. The device is equipped with approximately 100,000 EEG sensors that record brain electrical activity. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

The system operates using a specialized AI model called the Brain Foundation Model. According to the company, the model was trained on over 100,000 hours of brain activity recordings. Sabi Cap promises to convert a user's internal speech into text at a rate of 30 words per minute, working without surgical intervention, i.e., without chip implantation.

However, experts remain skeptical about this technology. The main issue is that EEG signals vary from person to person and encounter significant noise and distortion when passing through the skull. Neurotechnology consultant JoJo Platt notes that such devices should work without long-term calibration, and current technologies are not yet ready for this.

So far, Sabi has not released technical demonstrations or independent test results for its device. The product is scheduled for market release in 2026. Nevertheless, against the backdrop of generative AI development, interest in such neurointerfaces that allow control without keyboards and screens is growing.
