Proposal in South Korea to share artificial intelligence profits with the public

In South Korea, the issue of distributing additional tax revenues from the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to citizens as a "dividend" is being discussed. This initiative was proposed by Kim Yon-bom, the head of the presidential political staff. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Kim Yon-bom emphasized that the government could support the population through additional taxes collected from companies profiting significantly from the AI sector. He specifically noted that no new taxes would be introduced for businesses, but rather a redistribution of existing budget funds is intended.

This statement caused short-term confusion in the stock market. In particular, shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell by 2–2.5 percent. However, the situation stabilized once it became clear that this was a personal initiative and no official decision had been made at the government level.

Analysts believe that the growing demand for AI infrastructure is expected to bring record profits to Samsung and SK Hynix. The state proposes to direct these funds into a special fund to support education, youth, entrepreneurship, and to finance pension programs.

This approach represents a new perspective on the AI economy. The idea being put forward is that if artificial intelligence generates extremely high profits for large corporations, society should also receive its share of this success through state programs.
