SpaceX continues to celebrate the success of the Starship Flight 12 test, which took place late last week. Elon Musk's engineers released a new video captured by a drone. It shows the launch process from the new Pad 2 site at Starbase in Texas and the impressive performance of the 33 Raptor 3 engines. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports.
During the flight, stage separation, the deployment of 22 Starlink satellite mockups into orbit, and the controlled splashdown of Ship 39 in the Indian Ocean were executed. Despite the loss of the booster and some technical engine glitches, the flight was deemed successful, and valuable data was collected. This time, Starship was equipped with new cameras capable of transmitting 4K imagery from space.
SpaceX plans to launch the Starship system more than once an hour in the future, totaling over 10,000 launches per year. Elon Musk explained that achieving a high thrust-to-weight ratio is economically critical for transitioning to fully reusable systems.
As a reminder, a SpaceX record was set during Flight 12: the rocket carried approximately 45 tons of Starlink mockups into orbit. Currently, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not yet made a final decision on the necessity of a post-flight incident investigation.
