Cherry prices in Uzbekistan have jumped by 70% in just one week, reaching 17,000 UZS ($1.32) per kilogram, according to the international analytics platform EastFruit.
Experts say the sharp increase is due to exceptionally high demand from foreign buyers, especially from Russia, Belarus, and Serbia.
As of May 23, 2025:
• Average wholesale price — 17,000 UZS/kg
• In 2023 — 8,000 UZS/kg
• In 2021 — 10,000 UZS/kg
Interestingly, this year’s cherry season began at least a week earlier than usual. However, despite the early start, prices are much higher than in previous years. A frost in Eastern and Central Europe damaged local crops, causing a shortage and shifting international demand toward Uzbekistan. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
