Egypt to supply premium potato seed to Uzbekistan

With the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, an online meeting was held between Shavkat Sultonov, the head of the "Agro Gold Premium" company in Kashkadarya region, and Lubna Salem, the CEO of Egypt’s EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E. The main goal of the meeting was to develop cooperation in potato seed supply and open new opportunities in the agricultural sector.

During the conversation, various issues related to the supply of premium potato seeds to Uzbekistan were discussed. The Uzbek side stated that in the initial stage, a protected land area would be prepared for planting potato seeds, and later, there are plans to expand the planting areas. These steps are aimed at further developing potato farming in Uzbekistan.

The Egyptian representatives, in turn, confirmed that sufficient quantities of potato seeds would be supplied to Uzbekistan and expressed hope for further strengthening of cooperation.

At the end of the conversation, it was agreed that by the end of July this year, Egypt would send 500,000 CARA variety potato seeds, belonging to the G0 generation, free of charge to Uzbekistan. These seeds will be planted in Kashkadarya this year, multiplied, and distributed among local farmers.

This step marks a new phase of cooperation, opening new potato farming projects in Uzbekistan and creating new opportunities in the agricultural sector. Additionally, this initiative will have a significant impact on increasing efficiency in the production of new crops by farmers and developing the local economy.
