According to the latest data published by the State Committee of Statistics, as of January 1, 2025, there are a total of 138 museums in Uzbekistan. This figure also includes the main branches of various museums. In our country, museums are becoming not only places of preservation of history and culture but also important cultural centers increasingly attracting tourists.
According to the report, during 2024, museums of Uzbekistan were visited by 4.8 million people. This figure clearly shows that the tourism sector in the country is developing. Also, a large part of the visitors — approximately 1.4 million people — are foreign tourists. This indicates that the prestige of our museums at the international level is continuing to grow.
The five most visited museums by tourists are the following:
— Samarkand State Museum-Reserve — during 2024, it hosted 1,035,325 visitors. This figure shows that the museum is one of the most famous historical monuments not only in our country but also in all of Central Asia.
— Registan Ensemble Directorate — 908,225 people visited it. This historical site, located in Samarkand, has not lost its attractiveness for centuries and today also remains one of the main destinations for tourists.
— State Museum of Glory — visited by 656,355 people. This museum is considered an important place that reflects the difficult years of our country’s history and the courage of our people.
— Bukhara State Museum-Reserve — welcomed 489,208 guests. For centuries, Bukhara has been known as a center of culture and science, and the exhibits of the museum allow a deeper understanding of this rich history.
— Ichan-Kala State Museum-Reserve — visited by 456,917 people. This unique complex, located in the heart of Khorezm, fascinates tourists with its ancient architectural style and historical heritage.
According to specialists, interest in museums in our country is increasing year by year. This trend contributes not only to the development of the tourism sector but also to the preservation and promotion of our national cultural heritage.
