Uzbekistan has achieved great success in the field of water management - two important canals in the country have been recognized as international irrigation heritage. This was reported by the Information Service of the Ministry of Water Resources.
The "Dustlik" and "Eski Tuyatortar" canals in Uzbekistan were awarded the "WHIS Award" (World Irrigation Heritage) for 2025. This award is given to hydraulic structures of historical significance, which have been in operation for more than 100 years. This decision was made by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage.
The "Dustlik" Canal, located in the Syr Darya basin, is a large transboundary irrigation facility passing through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. This canal will provide water to thousands of hectares of land and make a significant contribution to the development of agriculture.
The "Eski Tuyatortar" canal is a centuries-old historical hydraulic monument located on the Zarafshan River. For several centuries, it was the main source of water distribution and agriculture.
