The total cost of the nuclear power plant to be built in Uzbekistan has not yet been determined. Director of Uzatom Azim Akhmedkhajaev noted that the cost of building a nuclear power plant in Jizzakh will be reduced due to a high level of localization. He informed Spot about this during World Atomic Week in Moscow.
"There are certain construction parameters, but the price has not yet been determined. The project is implemented with a common infrastructure, so it is possible to achieve cost optimization. As a result, construction costs will be significantly reduced. However, the exact results will be known after comprehensive calculations together with local and international experts," Akhmedkhajaev said.
Also, the Russian side fully understands Uzbekistan's efforts to optimize the cost of the NPP project and is acting in accordance with the customer's requirements.
According to Akhmedkhajaev, if a high level of localization is achieved, Uzatom can boast of the final cost of the project.
