9 km of railway will be laid in Jizzakh for the construction of a nuclear power plant

A separate railway line will be built on the territory of the nuclear power plant (NPP) under construction in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan. This was announced by the head of the NPP construction directorate, Abdujamil Kalmuratov, during a press tour organized on October 6.

According to him, logistics issues are currently being actively addressed. It is planned that part of the necessary materials and equipment for construction will be delivered by rail. For this purpose, JSC "Uzbekistan Railways" has designed a new railway line.

It is noted that the new railway line will be approximately 9 kilometers long. Heavy equipment important for the nuclear power plant, including Russian-made reactor components, will also be imported through this route.

Uzbekistan is also currently negotiating with Kazakhstan to transport the necessary cargo for the nuclear power plant through the country's territory. This is also one of the important stages in the formation of an international logistics corridor.

Additional contracts for the construction of the nuclear power plant are planned to be signed jointly with Rosatom by the end of the year. However, the issue of uranium enrichment used in the project has not yet been disclosed - this topic was assessed as "slightly closed."
