To reduce traffic congestion in Tashkent, new restrictions are being introduced on the movement of freight trucks. From now on, during morning and evening rush hours, trucks arriving in the capital will not be able to immediately enter the city. This was announced by Interior Minister Aziz Toshpulatov during the “Menimcha” program.
According to him, this decision was made to ease traffic in the city center and improve environmental conditions.
It was reported that five special parking areas for freight vehicles will be built at the entry points to Tashkent. These locations will be situated near the “Erkin,” “Sharq,” “Bektemir,” “Uch Kahramon,” and “Turbanov” road patrol posts. Bus terminals and campgrounds will also be set up in these areas. Some of the sites will occupy land plots of 7.7 hectares, 4.25 hectares, and 8 hectares.
The busiest checkpoint is the “Erkin” post, which sees between 40,000 and 50,000 vehicles pass through daily. For this reason, control and regulation in this area will be strengthened.
As Aziz Toshpulatov noted, under the new system, if a truck departing from Samarkand arrives in Tashkent around 8:00 a.m., it will have to wait three hours in the parking area. Only after the designated time will it be permitted to enter the city.
“In this way, we will restrict movement during morning and evening rush hours. During other times, minibuses and light vehicles will be allowed to move freely,” said the minister.
The main goal of this initiative is to reduce the road load in the capital, improve traffic safety, and create a more comfortable transportation environment for citizens.
