In connection with the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, access roads to the city of Samarkand will be temporarily closed from October 30 to November 14, 2025. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued an official statement.
This restriction is being introduced to ensure the security of a major international conference and maintain order. Alternative routes have been developed for transit vehicles, and it is planned to distribute flyers with QR codes to drivers showing these routes.
The internal affairs bodies urged citizens and tourists to postpone their trips to Samarkand as much as possible.
It should be noted that the UNESCO General Conference is being held outside Paris for the first time since 1985, and Uzbekistan is hosting this historic event for the first time.
