The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev got acquainted with the progress of the nationwide “National AI Hackathon” — an artificial intelligence-focused hackathon held at the Universal Sports Complex in the city of Bukhara.

This large-scale event was organized within the framework of the consistent policy aimed at developing the artificial intelligence ecosystem in Uzbekistan, initiated by Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The project is regarded as an important stage in shaping the country’s digital future.

The leaders were presented with detailed information on ongoing work to implement digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies. In particular, information was provided on digital transformation processes, including the “Digital Government” system, as well as solutions in the fields of transport, customs, taxation, healthcare, social protection, energy, geology, construction, and agriculture.

It was noted that digitalization in these sectors contributes to significantly increasing the efficiency of public administration and improving the quality of life of the population.
Initiatives to support and promote the startup ecosystems of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were also presented. The presidents got acquainted with the activities of promising projects such as “KPI-COM”, “OSON”, “DATOX” and others, and also spoke with their founders.

In addition, information was presented on the activities of national and international accelerators, including “UZUM”, “TBC Bank”, “Aloqabank”, “HUMO”, “UZCARD”.

During the event, special attention was paid to the importance of further developing venture infrastructure, supporting youth entrepreneurship, and implementing innovative ideas into practice.

Particular attention was also given to the achievements of the banking sector, especially the development of digital banking services and modern payment solutions.

The leaders were presented with the hackathon concept, as well as participants’ projects aimed at solving urgent problems in various fields.

During the open dialogue, the high level of youth interest, their creative potential, and enthusiasm for the practical application of artificial intelligence technologies were highly praised.

At the end of the visit, the heads of state took a commemorative photo with hackathon participants and representatives of the startup community.
