Chinese Investment to Improve Tashkent's Drainage System

Great and joyful news for all our fellow citizens who care about the development of our capital and the city of Tashkent! The strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China has reached a new, historic milestone.
Following the III Uzbekistan-China Interregional Forum held at a high level in the ancient Chinese city of Xi'an, with the aim of giving our capital, Tashkent, a completely modern look, investment and export contracts with a total value of over 3.5 billion dollars were signed.
We will detail the major projects and expected historic changes provided by the Tashkent City Administration press service in our article.
Ending the rainwater problem: A $400 million solution
The flooding problems observed during heavy rainfall in our capital will soon become a thing of the past. One of the most important initiatives within the framework of the forum was focused on this very area:
Radical system renewal: To develop drainage collectors, irrigation networks, and special rainwater drainage systems in the city based on modern standards, 400 million dollars will be allocated.
Transport, renovation, and streets that never sleep
At the conclusion of this prestigious economic forum, a number of major agreements were also formalized regarding the modernization of Tashkent's road transport system and housing stock:
Roads and BRT network ($1 billion): Special lanes for high-speed buses (BRT), modern overpasses (bridges), and a fundamental improvement of the general road infrastructure are planned.
Transport and social sector ($1 billion): Will be spent on developing the capital's general transport system and building necessary social facilities for the population.
Modern housing ($500 million): Cozy and modern residential complexes with all amenities will rise in place of old areas included in the renovation program.
«24/7» streets ($100 million): New and modern entertainment streets that operate around the clock and become favorite spots for tourists and locals will be established in Tashkent.
High technologies in the «Yangi Avlod» industrial zone
In order to boost the city's economy, important investment agreements worth 130 million dollars were signed to establish the most advanced and high-tech production facilities in the «Yangi Avlod» special industrial zone in our capital. This will serve to sharply increase the export of local products.
No burden on the state budget: What is the EPC+F model?
The most noteworthy and joyful aspect is that all these multi-billion dollar projects will be implemented based on the globally popular EPC+F (Engineering, Procurement, Construction + Finance) model.
This means that all work will be financed directly through foreign investment. In this process, no state budget funds will be spent and no state guarantees will be involved. The credit burden will not fall on our country.
City leadership emphasizes that these massive reforms will take Tashkent's infrastructure to a completely new level in the coming years. Thousands of new high-paying jobs will be created for residents of the capital. Most importantly, our beloved city will become an even more comfortable, safe, and livable place for residents and guests. Congratulations on the new victories of a renewing Tashkent!
