Trump wants to give Israel $1 billion in military aid
The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reports that the administration of US President Donald Trump is asking Congress to approve $1 billion in military aid to Israel.

According to reports, the aid package may include 4.7 thousand bombs weighing 450 kilograms worth $700 million and armored bulldozers from Caterpillar worth $300 million. Previously, the Israeli government used these bulldozers to demolish Palestinian homes.

According to US law, if arms sales exceed a certain amount, Congressional approval is required. In such cases, the State Department must submit information on the contract to the House and Senate Foreign Relations Committees and obtain their consent.

On February 2, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the United States on an official visit. His meeting with President Trump is scheduled for February 4. According to the press service of the Israeli prime minister, Netanyahu is the first foreign leader invited to Washington since Trump began his second term.

Also on February 3, Netanyahu held talks with US Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, on a deal with Hamas. According to Axios sources, during the meeting with Trump, the Israeli prime minister aimed to obtain support from Washington for continuing military operations against Hamas after the first phase of the ceasefire process is completed.
