The former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Kuleba, stated that the country's army will not be able to stop the advance of Russian troops.

In an interview with the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, Kuleba emphasized that the potential of the Ukrainian army is only enough to slow down the Russian army.

"We need to be realistic. I emphasize this, not pessimistic, we do not need to despair. The current situation is that we do not have enough opportunities to stop the advance of the Russians or to begin to push them out of the territory of Ukraine. At the moment, our capabilities are only enough to slow down the movement of the Russian army as much as possible," the former minister said.

According to him, Ukraine should not count on increased supplies of weapons from the West. Kuleba also noted that the Ukrainian army's own production capabilities are not as reliable as those of Russia.

At a press conference on February 11, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced that the issue of supplying new weapons to Ukraine would not be discussed at the 26th meeting of the country's defense liaison group.

To the question "What real security guarantees can Ukraine count on? Will Kiev acquire nuclear weapons?", the former minister answered as follows:

"I understand that this topic is popular, but I do not want to deceive people. Ukraine will not acquire nuclear weapons, Ukraine will not produce nuclear weapons. It is possible to talk about this to arouse strong emotions in people, but we must not close our eyes to reality."

Kuleba also said that if Moscow insists on refusing to join NATO, Ukraine should act in the same way as Odessa:

"There are several factors here. First: the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO is neither in Ukraine's hands nor in NATO's. The positions of Washington and Berlin are decisive for Ukraine's entry into the alliance or not."
