Why did Trump hate Zelensky?

Why did Trump hate Zelensky?
Recently, US President Donald Trump has become very hostile to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and is not tired of venting his hatred on him. Trump's statements have become so radical that, according to American publications, even those in the Kremlin are surprised. They even began to wonder if Trump is doing this to trap Russia.

Mineral wealth scramble

Against the backdrop of Trump's pressure and threats to Zelensky, another topic is being discussed in relations between the two countries: the issue of sharing Ukraine's mineral wealth. It turned out that the Americans brought to the Munich conference an agreement on the amount and manner in which Ukraine should transfer its mineral resources to the United States. Zelensky rejected the offer, saying that signing this agreement would effectively sell Ukraine.

This angered Trump. It was precisely after Zelensky publicly rejected it that this agreement was not signed, that Trump began to vent his venom against the Ukrainian president. Otherwise, after taking office, Trump called Zelensky first, and he did not have a bad relationship with him.

Recently, a number of serious publications have been saying that Zelensky would improve his relations with Trump if he signed a second, slightly softened agreement on sharing Ukraine's mineral resources with the United States. According to sources in the White House of Politico, Trump's pressure on Zelensky does not indicate a change in the US's attitude towards Russia. They say that Trump disliked Zelensky for not signing the agreement.

If this is true, Trump's threatening rhetoric towards Zelensky is a pressure to get him to sign a deal to share Ukraine's mineral resources. That is, Trump may think that if he threatens Zelensky with a threat to Ukraine's independence, he will agree to share its mineral resources.

What is Trump asking for?

At this point, Trump is silent about what kind of deal he is proposing. The new US president wants to receive 50 percent of the proceeds from all mineral sales to Kiev to pay for the arms supplied to Ukraine during the Biden administration. In particular, from the sale of rare metals that are available in Ukraine. If that is not enough, Trump wants to gain full control over Ukraine's oil, gas and even commercial ports. The amount of the deal Trump is demanding is said to be $ 500 billion.

Earlier, Trump said that the US gave Ukraine $ 350 billion during the war. Zelensky said that all accounts show that Washington provided $67 billion in weapons, and another $31.5 billion was allocated for budget expenditures. A large part of the money allocated for the Ukrainian budget was used to pay the salaries of teachers, doctors, military personnel and employees of other budget organizations.

Analysts noted that Trump's conditions for Ukraine are even more stringent than the demands made by the victorious parties to Germany, which started World War II.

After Zelensky publicly announced that he would not sign the agreement, according to American publications, Washington proposed a second agreement that took into account the objections of the Ukrainian president. Those in Kiev assessed this agreement as more realistic. Zelensky's advisers called on the president to agree to it, saying that signing it was the only way to restore relations with Trump.

A press conference with Zelensky will be held on February 23. At the conference, the Ukrainian president is expected to answer questions about Trump's threats and the proposal to share mineral resources.
