Costa Rica has accepted the first group of Central Asian and South Caucasian migrants deported from the United States with their families, Reuters reported.

The reception of illegal migrants took place as part of an agreement with Washington. According to it, up to 200 deportees will be held in a migrant detention center in Costa Rica. The migrants will be allowed to stay there for a month. During this time, officials will coordinate their voluntary return to their homeland. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Security Omer Badilla to reporters at the San Jose airport.

On this issue, our diplomatic missions have requested information from the US about the possible deportation to other countries. In addition, contacts have been established with Latin American countries through diplomatic channels in this regard,” said press secretary Ahror Burhonov.
