“As for the meetings with the Americans after the talks in Riyadh, we agreed to restore communication channels on a wide range of issues and bilateral relations, as well as international issues, including Ukraine, for which the Americans should appoint their special representative. And, of course, on the Middle East. But the simplest and most difficult thing is to restore the normal functioning of embassies. "Russia in Washington and America in Moscow," the minister said.
Moscow notes with satisfaction that the position of many countries on the situation in Ukraine has become more realistic, said Sergey Lavrov.
"We have examined in detail a number of international and regional problems, including the processes taking place around the situation in Ukraine. We are not changing our position and we are pleased to note that realism is growing in the position of many countries, which understand that without a long-term stable agreement that would eliminate the root causes of this situation, nothing can be agreed upon," Lavrov said.
He noted that the consistent position of the United States on Ukraine contrasts with the position of European countries. It is also difficult to understand the position of European countries, because it is quite unstable and changes depending on who has what ideas.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, after talks with Sergey Lavrov, said that the US initiative to resolve the conflict in Ukraine fits Turkey's policy and that Ankara is ready to support the process.
