Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to "totally destroy" Gaza if the Palestinians do not release the hostages and expel Hamas. He said this in a video message released by the military's press service.
"If all Israeli hostages are not released and Hamas is not expelled from Gaza, Israel will unleash forces you have never known before. Accept the offer of US President Donald Trump, return the hostages and expel Hamas. Other options will open up for you, including the possibility of moving to other parts of the world for those who wish. The alternative is complete destruction and annihilation," he said.
In addition, Katz announced that the evacuation of the population from the areas of hostilities in the Gaza Strip will begin soon.
"The strikes by the Israeli Air Force on Hamas terrorists were only the first step. The sequel will be much harder, and you will pay the full price," Katz warned.
As part of the ground operation, the Israeli military extended its control to the center of the Netsarim Corridor, which cuts through the Gaza Strip from the Beri district in southern Israel to the sea coast and separates the northern part of the exclave from the southern part.
According to Middle Eastern media, Israeli forces have now captured about half of the Netsarim Corridor, which separates the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, as far as Salahiddin, the main highway in the region.
