The first half marathon was held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, and for the first time in history, people competed with robots. According to The Global Times, a humanoid robot known as Tian Kung Ultra won first place among the robots participating in the competition.
About 12,000 people and 20 robots participated in the marathon. Tian Kung Ultra, created by the National Robotics Center, crossed the finish line in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the best result among men was 1 hour and 2 minutes, and among women - 1 hour and 11 minutes.
Interestingly, the robots were also given the opportunity to rest along the way, like people. The robots' batteries were replaced when people stopped to rest and drink water, CNN reports.
According to the publication, Tian Kung completed the Ultra Marathon without showing any signs of fatigue. At the end of the race, many marathon participants gathered around the winning robot and took photos for souvenirs. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
