FSB detained a suspect in the death of a Russian general: details of the incident revealed
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a suspect in connection with the death of Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, Deputy Head of the Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. The detained individual is 42-year-old Ignat Kuzin, who is presented as an agent of Ukrainian special services.

According to the Russian special services, Kuzin installed an explosive device in a Volkswagen Golf vehicle used by Moskalik. This explosive device was reportedly taken from a secret location in the Moscow region, and its detonation was carried out remotely by Ukrainian special services. The incident occurred in the morning of April 25, resulting in Lieutenant General Moskalik's death at the scene.

According to the FSB, the suspect possessed a residence permit in Ukraine. He has been taken to the Investigative Committee of Russia for interrogation within the framework of criminal proceedings. Kuzin could face charges related to committing a terrorist act and the illegal storage of explosive substances, potentially resulting in life imprisonment.

According to a source of the TASS news agency, Ignat Kuzin was detained in Istanbul upon his arrival from Moscow by plane. However, there is no detailed information provided on how he was brought to Russia.

In a video released by the FSB, Ignat Kuzin admitted that he had been recruited by Ukrainian special services in April 2023, in the Kyiv region. According to his statements, he arrived in Moscow on orders from a handler named "Vadim," who provided coordinates for a secret location where he retrieved surveillance cameras and the car bomb. Kuzin also claimed that his handler triggered the explosion remotely from Ukrainian territory.

According to the "Vot Tak" publication, Ignat Kuzin was born in Russia but lived for an extended period in Ukraine. Mash news outlet reports that since 2014, Kuzin had regularly visited Russia for work, and had even worked at the well-known "Azovstal" plant in Mariupol.

It is worth noting that the explosion of the vehicle that caused Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik's death occurred on April 25, in the city of Balashikha, near Moscow. Moskalik had nearly 40 years of experience in the Russian army, participated in negotiations with Ukraine in 2015 within the Normandy format, and was a spokesperson on topics related to Russia's military operations in Syria. Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
