The Indian government has officially authorized the country's army chief to mobilize voluntary reserve forces and territorial army units to support the country's armed forces. This was reported by the PTI news agency, citing official sources.
The Indian government's decision to take such a significant step comes against the backdrop of the tense situation with Pakistan. It is reported that now the Indian army chief has the right to mobilize "every officer and every person belonging to the reserve army" if necessary.
The Indian territorial army was formed in 1949 and is mainly responsible for supporting the country's regular army, defense and protection of strategic facilities.
It should be recalled that on May 8, an unprecedented air battle took place between India and Pakistan in the history of modern aviation. More than a hundred aircraft from both sides participated in this fierce clash and exchanged fire for about an hour. As a result of this battle, dozens of military personnel from both sides were killed.
The situation in the region is currently very tense. The entire international community is paying close attention to how the security situation in the region will change after this decision by the Indian government.
