A lawsuit filed by a student living in St. Petersburg against Aeroflot airline was heard in court and a decision was made in his favor. This was reported by the press service of the city's unified courts.
The incident was related to a flight scheduled to depart St. Petersburg from Istanbul. Despite the fact that a young man named Robert Puchkov arrived on time for the flight to Turkey, airline employees refused to let him board the plane. They explained this decision by the fact that the student did not have the necessary documents to enter Turkey.
However, the student said that he had presented his passport and student residence permit, and also stated that he was going to Turkey to take an exam. Despite having all the necessary documents, Aeroflot refused to deliver him to his destination.
In this situation, the student had to urgently buy a ticket on another route. He bought a new plane ticket on the route St. Petersburg-Dubai-Istanbul and eventually reached his destination. However, this caused additional time and expenses.
For this reason, Robert Puchkov filed a lawsuit against the airline with a claim for compensation for material and moral damage. In his lawsuit, he demanded compensation of 121 thousand rubles (approximately 1,500 US dollars). This amount included the cost of a ticket purchased for a direct flight, the cost of an additional ticket purchased for another route, payments for taxi services, and moral damage.
The court partially satisfied the plaintiff's claim and ruled to recover in favor of Puchkov 34.7 thousand rubles for the plane ticket, a total of 68.9 thousand rubles for additional expenses, and 5 thousand rubles for moral damage. In addition, Aeroflot was ordered to pay a fine of 54 thousand rubles.
This event drew public attention and once again demonstrated the importance of compliance with the rights of passengers by air carriers. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
