“Terror and talks cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go together. Water and blood cannot flow together" -- Indian PM Modi.
In a powerful address to the nation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt tributes to the Indian armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists, praising their unmatched courage and precision during Operation Sindoor.
The Prime Minister described the operation as a testament to India’s strength, patience, and unwavering commitment to justice.
Highlighting the nation’s resilience, Modi condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, where innocent civilians were killed in front of their families based on their religion. Calling it a “gruesome face of terror and cruelty,” he said the incident had not only pained him personally but was also a vile attempt to fracture the unity of India. “After this terrorist attack, the entire nation—across communities and political lines—stood united for strong action,” he said.
According to Indian Prime Minister, Operation Sindoor was not just a military response but a national sentiment—a reflection of the collective anger and resolve of millions. Between the night of May 6 and early morning of May 7, Indian forces launched precise strikes on terror hideouts and training centers in Pakistan, shocking terrorists and their supporters.
These strikes eliminated over 100 notorious terrorists, many of whom had been operating freely in Pakistan for decades.
“Terrorist hubs like Bahawalpur and Muridke — long considered breeding grounds for global terror — were hit hard. Their leaders had never imagined such a bold response from India,” he noted. “India responded to the desecration of the sindoor of our sisters and daughters by destroying the very foundations of terrorism.”
The Prime Minister revealed that in retaliation, Pakistan attempted to target Indian civilian infrastructure—schools, religious places, and military bases.
However, he emphasized that Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks were neutralized mid-air by India’s robust defense systems. “Pakistan’s much-touted airbases suffered serious damage, and their military was left bewildered,” he stated.
Following three days of severe Indian counterstrikes, Pakistan contacted India’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) on May 10, for de-escalation and promising to halt both military and terrorist activities. India agreed to suspend further action while keeping a watchful eye on Pakistan’s future conduct. “We will measure every step of Pakistan by its actions,” Modi affirmed.
Prime Minister Modi declared that Operation Sindoor has set a new benchmark in India’s fight against terrorism.
He outlined three fundamental principles that now guide India’s anti-terror stance:
•Firm and Proportional Response: Any terrorist attack on Indian soil will be met with a strong and fitting reply.
•No Tolerance for Nuclear Blackmail: India will not allow the nuclear threat to shield terrorist activities.
•No Distinction Between State and Terror: India will treat state sponsors of terrorism and terror masterminds as one and the same.
Citing evidence of state-sponsored terrorism, Modi said that high-ranking Pakistani military officials were seen attending funerals of slain terrorists, further exposing Islamabad’s complicity.
Modi expressed immense pride in the capabilities of India’s defense forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary units. He also emphasized the success of Made in India defense equipment during Operation Sindoor, stating that the operation had proven the efficacy of Indian-built weapons in modern warfare.
“This operation has redefined warfare in the 21st century. Our strength is our unity, and zero tolerance for terrorism is the only way to ensure global peace,” he declared.
Prime Minister Modi has issued a stern warning to Pakistan, asserting that its continued patronage of terror would lead to its downfall. “If Pakistan wants peace, it must dismantle its terror infrastructure. There is no other path,” he said.
He reiterated India’s consistent global position — any talks with Pakistan will center solely on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). “Terror and talks cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go together. Water and blood cannot flow together,” he stated unequivocally.
Concluding his address on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Prime Minister Modi invoked the teachings of Lord Buddha, underscoring that true peace is anchored in strength. “For India to be a developed nation—Viksit Bharat—its citizens must live in peace. And for peace to prevail, power must be wielded when necessary.”
He saluted the Indian Armed Forces and the unyielding spirit of every Indian, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to unity, security, and sovereignty.
He concluded emphatically, echoing the collective pride of a resolute nation, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’!
