Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressed the public amid recent geopolitical tensions. He called the operation against India a success, while emphasizing that his country has always stood for peace.
“We taught the enemy an unforgettable lesson. But despite this, we condemn aggression and always prefer peace. We want our region, like others, to be peaceful and developed. This can only be achieved through peaceful neighborly relations and continuous diplomatic efforts,” said Sharif.
“Wars bring no benefit — cooperation is the solution”
The Prime Minister also touched upon the Kashmir issue, highlighting that resolving it is key to regional stability:
“We have been through three wars and achieved no real result. Now it’s time to abandon old paths and solve problems through dialogue and cooperation,” he said.
Sharif also criticized India for rejecting the international investigation proposed by Pakistan:
“This was the very reason that forced us to take a decisive step on the night of May 9 to 10,” he explained.
“We had to respond — and we did”
According to the Prime Minister, at 2:30 a.m. on May 10, the Chief of General Staff informed him that India had struck Pakistani territory with a ballistic missile.
“He told me, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, it’s time to give the enemy an answer they will never forget,’” Sharif recalled.
That same night, Pakistani forces launched a retaliatory strike. Soon after, India proposed a ceasefire.
“The Chief told me, ‘We achieved our objective — now they’re asking for a truce.’ I responded, ‘Can there be a better result than when the enemy, under pressure, asks for peace themselves?’” he added.
