Putin told Trump about the prevention of terrorist attacks near the Kremlin on May 9
Aide to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov said that ahead of the Victory Day holiday, special services had “prevented the threat of terrorist attacks” in the Kremlin and Red Square. He made this known in an interview with Interfax.

According to him, Vladimir Putin, in a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, said that Ukraine had launched hundreds of drones and Storm Shadow missiles towards Russia, most of which had been shot down.

“Our president, emphasizing the importance of the recently celebrated great Victory Day anniversary, recalled that Russia had declared a three-day ceasefire on the eve of the holiday, after which Ukraine launched 524 drones into Russian territory on the night of May 6-7, as well as launched American Storm Shadow missiles. Almost all of them were directed at Moscow, and at the same time the threat of terrorist attacks in the center of the capital and on Red Square was prevented,” Ushakov said (Storm Shadow is actually produced and delivered not by the United States, but by Great Britain and France).

Ushakov stressed that Putin “certainly did not tell Trump about this by chance, because the Ukrainians directly threatened foreign participants in the festivities,” and also tried to “intimidate foreign leaders and prevent them from coming to Moscow.” The Russian side wanted to emphasize that “the authors of these threats were people who respect Nazi criminals and promote militaristic views.”

Putin’s aide said that “this topic was discussed in sufficient detail during yesterday’s conversation between the two presidents, and it is worth emphasizing it.”

He added that the presidents “spoke at length and warmly about how our countries were allies during World War II and fought together against fascist Germany and militaristic Japan.”

On May 6 and 7, airports in Moscow and other regions of Russia suspended operations due to attacks by Ukrainian drones. On May 8, in the afternoon, Rosaviatsia reported that the situation at airports in the Moscow region had stabilized.
