Cases of coronavirus infection are increasing sharply again in several Asian countries. The governments of Singapore, China and Thailand are urging the population to take additional precautions, in particular, to wear masks in public places and avoid mass gatherings. This was reported by local medical institutions and government officials.
The situation in Singapore is getting more serious
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health and the Infectious Diseases Agency of Singapore, COVID-19 has not completely disappeared, but, like endemic diseases, may manifest itself in different waves throughout the year. At the end of April, the country recorded about 14,200 new cases. This figure is one of the highest in recent months.
In this regard, the following recommendations were made to the local population:
- Revaccination for citizens over 60 years of age or with chronic diseases;
- Wearing protective masks in public places;
- Limit unnecessary meetings and travel;
- Avoid crowded places.
Virus reemerges in China
The infection is also spreading rapidly in China. During April, about 169,000 new cases were confirmed across the country, of which 340 patients were in serious condition. According to official data, 9 people have died from the virus.
The Chinese government recommends wearing masks on public transport, maintaining social distance in airports and large centers, and getting tested in order to prevent widespread spread among the population.
Another wave has been recorded in Thailand
The situation in Thailand is also serious. From January to mid-May, more than 187,000 cases of COVID-19 were recorded. In the week from May 18 to May 24 alone, more than 53,000 new cases were registered. During this period, 46 deaths related to the disease were also recorded.
Thailand's Ministry of Health announced that it has controlled the prices of masks, rapid tests and antiseptics and is taking measures to ensure their availability to the general public. The main goal of the government is to prevent an excessive burden on the health system and limit the spread of the virus among the population.
Conclusion: the pandemic is not completely over
The examples of these countries show that it is still too early to give in to complacency, saying that the COVID-19 pandemic is over. International health organizations also emphasize the need to continue to support precautionary measures.
According to officials, simple measures such as repeated vaccinations, good personal hygiene, wearing masks in public places, and limiting long-distance travel can help prevent new waves of the virus.
Recommendation: Protect yourself and your loved ones, take precautions in public places, and follow official medical recommendations. This is important not only for your health, but also for the safety of the entire community. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
