How much does Israel spend per day on the war against Iran?
The military clashes between Israel and Iran, air strikes, and rocket attacks are putting increasing pressure on the economy of the Jewish state with each passing day. According to The Wall Street Journal, this war is costing Israel hundreds of millions of dollars every day, which could seriously affect the country’s long-term combat capability.

According to available data, Israel spends up to $200 million a day solely on air defense systems. This includes modern missile interception systems, special munitions, military aircraft flights, and other logistical expenses. The unlimited increase in costs is raising the likelihood that the country will be pushed more quickly toward peace negotiations. At the same time, it is noted that restoring damaged infrastructure could cost the Israeli budget at least $400 million.

It should be noted that forecasts of spending on the war differ among various sources. For example, according to Financial Express estimates, operations including airstrikes, flight time, and munitions expenses have already approached $593 million. In addition, intercepting missiles and mobilizing reserve troops also require large amounts of funding.

Based on approximate calculations, the publication writes that the war with Iran is costing Israel about $725 million per day. This figure includes only direct military expenditures. Other infrastructural and social impacts may be much higher than this amount.

According to the former financial adviser to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) General Staff, Re'em Aminach, a single 48-hour military operation against Iran required expenses of $1.45 billion. These figures are causing serious concern not only within the government, but among the general public as well.

The Gaza war and total expenses

By the end of 2024, according to Calcalist, the war in Gaza had cost Israel more than 250 billion shekels (about $67.5 billion). This amount includes not only military operations, but also aid to civilians, domestic economic disruptions, and losses in manufacturing sector revenues.

One of the biggest expenses is the mobilization of reservists. At the height of the war, Israel kept over 300,000 reserve soldiers in combat readiness. According to the Ministry of Finance, keeping 100,000 soldiers for one day — their salaries, food, living conditions, and logistics — can amount to up to 100 million shekels, that is, up to $27 million.

Economic pressure and future risks

The ever-growing costs, the high price of weapons, rockets, and flights, destruction of infrastructure, and the risk of economic crisis are forcing the Israeli government to draw serious conclusions. According to analysts, if the war drags on, the deficit in the budget and the threat to the country’s economic stability will intensify.

Nevertheless, Israel’s main priority remains ensuring the safety of the state and its citizens. The economic “price” of the war grows every day, which may push the government to make quicker decisions and return to negotiations.
