Successor to Khamenei appointed in Iran: Preparation against the USA and Israel
Amid the political and military tensions in the Middle East, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has taken a very important step to ensure the continuity of power in the event of a possible attack by the US or Israel. This was reported by the American publication The New York Times, citing its sources in Iran.

According to reports, Khamenei gave a special instruction to the Assembly of Experts, demanding that in case he is killed or unofficially removed from office, a successor should be appointed immediately. He selected three proven and experienced candidates and listed them in a secret register.

This is not a usual occurrence. In Iran, the replacement of the supreme leader is typically a complex process at the crossroads of religion and politics that takes several months. But this time the situation is completely different — the country is in a state of war. Therefore, Khamenei has aimed to renew the top layer of power quickly and step by step.

It should be noted that Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was previously mentioned as the main contender for this position. However, according to The New York Times sources, he is not among the successors chosen by his father. This dispelled the rumors circulating in political circles.

At the same time, Khamenei has pre-designated successors not only for himself but also for military commanders and key state officials in the event they are killed. This indicates that Iran's leadership is highly prepared both militarily and politically.

The article notes that after Israel's initial strikes on Iran, the country's political elite and various political groups are acting in rare unity. This was emphasized by reformist politician and former Iranian vice president Mohammad Ali Abtahi. In his opinion, Israel misjudged the level of internal unity in Iranian society, and in response to an external threat, the entire country has taken a defensive position.

According to The New York Times sources, there are currently three main threats seriously concerning the Iranian leadership:

1. A possible assassination attempt against Khamenei;
2. Official involvement of the USA in the conflict;
3. Large-scale and destructive attacks on the country’s strategic infrastructure.

These threats are being evaluated so seriously that the Iranian intelligence service has prohibited its personnel from using mobile phones, the internet, and other electronic communications. They have even been ordered to covertly move into underground bunkers. This practice is considered the highest level of security for countries in a state of war.

Through these measures, Iran aims not only to prevent external aggression but also to avoid internal fragmentation. Observers are closely following these developments. Because every political move in the region affects not only Iran, but also the future of the entire Muslim world and the international geopolitical situation.
