In Ukraine, high-level political changes expected in the coming days are attracting significant attention. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is expected to resign and take over the post of Minister of Defense of the country.
Commenting on this decision, Zelensky stated:
“Denys Shmyhal’s vast experience will benefit him in the role of Ukraine’s Minister of Defense. All of the country’s resources, tasks, and responsibilities are currently concentrated in this area.”
Another key aspect of this political reshuffle is that Shmyhal’s position is expected to be taken by his first deputy — Yulia Svyrydenkova. If confirmed, she will become one of the first women in Ukraine’s history to be appointed as Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, current Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is planned to continue his service as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States. This appointment is being viewed as a political step aimed at further strengthening Ukraine–US relations.
These changes reflect the Ukrainian leadership’s commitment to effectively managing a wartime government and further developing its foreign policy and defense systems. The official announcements are expected in the coming days. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
