Another interesting event took place in the world of chess: famous Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen achieved a decisive victory over artificial intelligence — ChatGPT — in a chess game. He announced it on his social media page, according to Kursiv.media.
According to Carlsen, he played the game during a trip just to kill time. Interestingly, he won by eliminating all of the opponent's pawns and keeping all of his own pieces intact — in just 53 moves.
After the match, the grandmaster asked ChatGPT to evaluate his performance. The AI gave him a high rating, estimating his level between 1800 and 2000. In reality, Carlsen's official FIDE rating is 2839 — one of the highest in the world.
ChatGPT commented as follows:
"You didn’t lose a single piece. I resign. These were very precise and intelligent moves."
Carlsen’s victory once again sparks discussion about the boundaries between human capabilities and artificial intelligence. His mastery of chess shows that even powerful algorithms can be outplayed. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
