Will the syrup in Coca-Cola change in the US?
President Donald Trump announced that Coca-Cola has agreed to start using real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup in drinks sold in the United States, BBC reported.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. This will be a very good move — You’ll see. It’s just better!”

While Coca-Cola has not officially confirmed the change, a company spokesperson said: “We appreciate President Trump’s enthusiasm. More details about new innovative offerings will be shared soon.”

Coca-Cola in the US is usually made with corn syrup, while international versions — including in Mexico, the UK, and Australia — often use cane sugar.

CEO James Quincey previously told investors that the company is making progress on reducing sugar content by adjusting recipes and marketing strategies.

However, this move may concern US corn farmers. John Bode, president of the Corn Refiners Association, said: “Replacing high fructose corn syrup would cost jobs, hurt farm incomes, and increase sugar imports — with no real health benefit.”

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his Make America Healthy Again campaign have called for removing corn syrup, seed oils, and artificial dyes from foods.

Ironically, Trump himself is a loyal Diet Coke drinker and even had a button in the Oval Office to summon the beverage instantly.
