Another important event in the field of anti-corruption efforts was recorded in Ukraine, reports dw.com. The High Anti-Corruption Court decided to detain the former head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Haidai, for two months. After this court decision, various discussions intensified among the public and lawyers.
According to the court's ruling, Haidai can be released on bail of 10 million hryvnias, which is approximately 2.1 million euros. However, lawyers believe this amount does not correspond to his official income and stated their intention to appeal the precautionary measure.
According to the information, Serhiy Haidai was born in 1975 in Luhansk region. He studied in Khmelnytskyi and later worked in Kyiv. From 2019 to 2023, he headed the Luhansk Regional State Administration, and in March 2024, he was appointed as the head of the Mukachevo district of the Zakarpattia region.
According to the latest information, on August 2, the official was detained by employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. Haidai is suspected of participating in a corruption scheme related to the purchase of drones and electronic warfare equipment at inflated prices. It was also reported on August 3 that he was dismissed from the position of head of the Mukachevo district administration.
Haidai, for his part, considers himself not guilty and announced this through the media. According to him, he does not intend to run away anywhere and stated that "after all these matters are finished, he is ready to go to the front."
This incident once again brought issues of transparency and accountability in Ukrainian public administration to the forefront. In the future, court proceedings and news about Haidai's case will be followed with great interest. The fight against corruption remains an important direction in Ukrainian society, and such cases are regarded as a tangible result of reforms.
