The latest attack carried out by Russian forces on the city of Lozova, located in the Kharkiv region, once again created sad and terrifying moments in Ukraine. This was announced by the city mayor Serhii Zelenskyi on the morning of Tuesday, August 5.
According to reports, critical infrastructure facilities, multi-story residential buildings, and houses in the private sector were seriously damaged as a result of the attack. Zelenskyi emphasized that several civilians were injured, including two young children.
“Lozova had never experienced such a powerful and large-scale attack before. This was the heaviest strike the city endured since the beginning of the war,” said Zelenskyi in his statement. “Currently, rescuers, doctors, and emergency medical teams are working tirelessly to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. Affected areas are being recorded, water supply is being restored. Some areas, including Avylivka and the Katerynivka starosta district, remain without electricity,” the mayor added.
So far, official reports have not specified what type of weapons were used in the shelling of Lozova. However, Ukraine's Air Force had previously warned of the movement of Russian drones in the direction of the city before the attack.
It is also known that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the Kharkiv region one day before the attack — on August 4. Some analysts interpret the timing of the visit and the attack as a provocative move.
According to the latest data from Ukraine’s Air Force, on the night of August 5, the Russian Federation attacked Ukrainian territory using 46 Shahed-type combat drones, various types of drone simulators, and an “Iskander-M” ballistic missile.
These actions disrupted the peace not only in Lozova but also in other Ukrainian cities. This incident shows how much the military confrontation between Russia and Ukraine has intensified.
Civilians are now forced to seek shelter to protect their lives. This terrible incident in Lozova is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of war on human lives. While hopes for peace remain, each such attack puts those hopes to the test.
