According to Kyiv, the Russian government is increasing the number of fighters participating in the war against Ukraine by 9,000 people each month.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, emphasized that Russia intends to significantly expand its military potential. In his opinion, Moscow aims to establish at least 10 new divisions by the end of 2025. Two of these divisions have already been formed.
Oleksandr Syrskyi announced this on August 5, following a meeting dedicated to reviewing the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ activities in July. According to him, the gradual increase in the number of Russian fighters should not leave Kyiv inactive.
"In such conditions, Ukraine cannot afford any calm. We must continue mobilization efforts, further improve military training, and especially increase the capacity of unmanned weapons," he said.
According to Syrskyi, July was a very tense and difficult month for Ukraine. The Russian army became active along almost the entire combat line. They particularly tried to use the "small slicing" tactic by employing small assault groups.
He acknowledged that the situation is very difficult in the directions of Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Novopavlivka. At the same time, the Ukrainian army has achieved certain successes in the Siversk-Slobozhanske direction, especially in regaining control over the Sumy region. Active military operations are also continuing in the Kursk region.
This reality requires even more serious preparation and deep strategic thinking from Ukraine and its military command. Because Russia is striving to gain not only numerical but also strategic superiority. At the same time, Kyiv is also shaping its response — through technology, preparation, and mobilization.
