30-Storey Tower Collapses in Bangkok

The Thai Prosecutor’s Office has officially charged 23 individuals and companies, including a well-known construction tycoon and a major Chinese state corporation, in connection with the collapse of a 30-storey office tower in Bangkok. This was reported by Nation Thailand.

Among the accused are the head of one of the country’s largest construction firms, Italian-Thai Development, Premchai Karnasuta, and China’s China Railway corporation. They are suspected of violating construction standards and falsifying official documents.

According to preliminary investigation results, the collapse of the tower was caused by major deficiencies in the design and construction stages. It was also found that the quality of the materials used and compliance with technological processes did not meet the required standards.

It is known that on March 28, 2025, as a result of a powerful earthquake in Myanmar, the under-construction tower of the National Audit Office in Bangkok collapsed. The incident claimed the lives of 92 people, injured 9, and 4 workers are still missing.

The collapsed tower was only 30% complete and was the only structure in Thailand damaged by the earthquake. This incident is considered one of the most tragic structural collapses in the country’s history.
