The Israeli army plans to move residents of Gaza City from combat zones to the southern part. The military announced that tents and necessary items for temporary shelter will be provided to the population.
This decision was made after Israel announced a new offensive plan to seize the northern part of Gaza City. The plan has caused major concern in the international community, as more than 2.2 million people live in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that before the offensive begins, civilians will be moved to “safe zones.” Aid supplies will be delivered through the Kerem Shalom border crossing with the help of the UN and international organizations.
In recent days, Israeli forces have intensified attacks on the outskirts of Gaza City. Heavy bombardments took place in Zeitoun and Shejaiya, destroying many homes. According to the army, tunnels and weapons are being destroyed there.
The war began on October 7, 2023, with a Hamas attack that killed more than 1,200 Israelis. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed in subsequent military operations. The war has caused famine and left millions homeless in Gaza.
