On August 17, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a telephone conversation with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, the key issues of the bilateral and international agenda were discussed. Russian President Putin informed Mirziyoyev about the main outcomes of the Russia-US summit that took place on August 15 in Anchorage.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his hope that the situation around Ukraine would be resolved soon, and emphasized the importance of accelerating trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and implementing new cooperative projects. The importance of continuing active communication and exchanges at all levels was also highlighted.
On August 15, a meeting took place in Alaska between Trump and Putin. The talks lasted for 2 hours and 45 minutes, and both leaders emphasized that no agreement had been reached on Ukraine. Putin called the talks productive and stated that Russia was ready to work on security issues with Ukraine.
Additionally, on June 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Vladimir Putin met in Minsk during the Eurasian Economic Union summit, where they also discussed the situation in Ukraine. On July 8, they had another telephone conversation.
Tokaev, considering Putin’s meeting in Anchorage as a historic summit, stated that the two leaders were ready to engage in practical negotiations to stop the war in Ukraine.
