Another unfortunate aviation incident was recorded in France. In the Finistère department, a special Morane 29 helicopter, involved in firefighting operations, lost control while maneuvering over a water reservoir and suddenly crashed.
According to reports, witnesses feared a major tragedy at the time of the incident. However, the pilot and the firefighter inside the helicopter managed to escape in time and survived without sustaining serious injuries.
The Finistère prefecture stated: “During the water intake, the helicopter suddenly hit the surface of the water. This caused it to lose control and crash.”
The Morane 29 model is considered relatively new equipment in France. Since 2023, it has been actively used in combating wildfires across the country. During this summer season alone, the helicopter carried out 33 flights and delivered water 154 times, helping to extinguish fires in various regions. Thanks to this, it managed to prevent the spread of flames across hundreds of hectares of land.
