In Australia’s Victoria state, 56-year-old Dezi Freeman, suspected of killing two police officers, has not yet been captured. Last week, during a search at his home in the village of Porepunkah, he resisted the police and shot them dead.
After the incident, Freeman fled into the forest. For a week, police have been conducting a large-scale search with helicopters, armored vehicles, and special forces.
According to authorities, some people are helping the suspect. Police warned that this is also a serious crime.
Freeman’s wife, Amalia Freeman, called on him to surrender. She also expressed condolences to the families of the slain officers and said her family does not hold anti-government views.
The incident has once again raised questions about the rise of anti-government groups in Australia. Three years ago, a similar attack in Queensland also claimed the lives of police officers.
