In the capital of Great Britain, London, a mass protest against immigration policy took place - a demonstration called "Unify the Kingdom." According to police, more than 110,000 citizens participated in this demonstration. This was reported by The Guardian.
The demonstration was organized after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a well-known blogger and right-wing populist in the USA. It was hosted by participant and political activist Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon). During the march, Robinson put forward slogans such as "patriotism - the future" and "boundaries - the future," emphasizing that the country was "finally awakening."
In parallel, the "Fight Against Racism" organization also organized a demonstration in the opposite direction. About 5 thousand citizens took part in it. According to police, it was difficult to determine the exact number of demonstrators, but approximate figures were calculated using video surveillance and helicopter images.
During the demonstration, it was noted that some participants committed aggressive actions. According to London police, officers were attacked, protesters tried to break through the cordon. They threw traffic cones, glass containers, and other objects. In response, hundreds of specially equipped police and mobilized units prevented the unrest from spreading.
UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman strongly criticized those who attacked police officers during the unrest: "The right to peaceful demonstrations is important for the democracy of our country. However, those who attack police officers will be held accountable before the law. Criminal acts will be strictly punished," the minister said.
During the show, technology magnate Elon Musk also spoke via videoconference. In an interview with Tommy Robinson, he emphasized the need for political changes in Great Britain, stating the need to dissolve parliament and hold new elections.
Musk's speech faced sharp criticism in the country's political circles. Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davy refuted his views: "British democracy is very valuable for being a political toy for foreign technology magnates. Musk thinks not about the British people, but about his own interests and personal gain."
According to The Guardian, during the demonstration, some "Unify the Kingdom" participants surrounded a small group of opposing protesters, resulting in short-term clashes between the two sides. The police isolated them, evacuated them to a safe zone, and took control of the situation.
