13 Uzbek workers exploited as slaves in Ukraine

A shocking incident has been uncovered in Ukraine: Uzbek citizens were forced into slavery in the Kyiv region. This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, TSN reported.

According to the information, the illegal scheme was organized by two Chinese citizens, one Uzbek citizen and a Ukrainian woman. All four of them have been detained and are now expected to face trial.

Investigators say that the victims were selected from among those who found themselves in difficult situations abroad, homeless, and in difficult financial situations. They were promised jobs and decent conditions in Ukraine, but it turned out that a completely different picture awaited them in practice.

In the rooms where people were accommodated, freedom of movement was restricted, they were forced to work under supervision, and even their basic needs were met according to a fixed schedule. Reports indicate that even going to the bathroom was permitted, and penalties and fines were applied for any minor violations.

Law enforcement agencies attacked the criminals' homes and household premises. During the raid, 13 citizens of Uzbekistan were found to be living in inhuman conditions. Documents, cash, and vehicles were also confiscated.

At the same time, a number of serious charges are planned to be brought against the suspects. All four individuals are under investigation as guilty of crimes such as "human trafficking and forced labor."

This situation once again demonstrates the seriousness of the problem of forced labor and human trafficking in the world. While the punishment of criminals is a delayed justice for victims, their release remains an important step.
