Due to the government shutdown in the US, experts are advising the public not to visit national parks. With fewer staff, many services are not functioning.
The National Park Service oversees 433 sites, but half of its employees have been furloughed. Sanitation, road maintenance, and safety operations are not being fully carried out.
Experts recall that in 2018, during a similar situation, trash accumulated in parks and damage occurred. For this reason, they say keeping the parks open is dangerous.
According to specialists, visiting parks now is unsafe, and resolving the problems later will become more difficult. Therefore, the public is advised to temporarily avoid national parks.
