One of the world’s largest food companies, Nestle, announced that it will lay off 16,000 workers. This represents 6 percent of the company’s total workforce. CEO Filip Navratil said the decision is necessary to cut costs and simplify operations.
The layoffs will mainly affect office staff and manufacturing departments. The program will continue until the end of 2027. The company aims to save significant funds through this plan.
In recent months, there have been leadership changes at Nestle. Former CEO Laurent Freixe and Chairman Paul Bulcke have left their positions. The new CEO, Navratil, urged Nestle to “change faster.”
Nestle’s sales rose by 4.3 percent in the last quarter, mainly driven by coffee and confectionery products.
