A controversy has erupted in Ukraine around the popular cartoon "The Little Girl and the Crook." According to reports, a proposal has been put forward to impose sanctions on this project for its connection with Russia, Ukrainian media reported.
The proposal was made by Yaroslav Yurchishin, Chairman of the Press Freedom Committee of the Ukrainian parliament. He noted that the Ukrainian version of the cartoon also reflects Russian imperial and military ideas.
According to the deputy, children's cartoons are being used by Russia as a means of influence, and many parents do not control the content shown to their children on the Internet. "It's time to clean up Russian content and create national brands," he said.
Experts say that "The Little Girl and the Crook" has a number of propaganda signs: the little girl often escapes punishment and in some scenes wears a Soviet-era hat.
If the sanctions are approved, the police may classify the cartoon as prohibited content.
According to The Times, this character is perceived as a symbol of Russia's "soft power" and can be used to shape certain values in children's minds.
